Review of the 2017 season

It was a more than very successful season for the Vitalmonitor ARBÖ Racing Team!

Of the 81 races completed, 36 competitions were won and 28 other podium finishes were achieved. The four adult athletes of the team, Evelin Bröderbauer, Peter Daxberger, Sabine and Alexander Sommer celebrated successes in mountain bike marathons in Austria, Italy and Germany. Highlights were the world championship participations in Singen (Germany) of Sabine (19th place) and Evelin (55th place) as well as the 3 medals at the mountain bike marathon national championships. Sabine secured the vice state championship title, her husband Alexander was runner-up in the Masters 2 and Peter won the bronze medal in the Masters 1. The good performance at the MTB Marathon State Championships was rounded off with a 7th place by Evelin.

Other major successes

After the state championship, the next joint appearance was at the first big Mühlviertel marathon, the Granitmarathon. Unfortunately, Evelin could not compete due to illness and Peter had to end the race after half of the race in 5th place due to a defect. Alexander moved up to 5th place overall and Sabine was able to win the women's classification as in previous years.

Victories and other great achievements

After that, Evelin Bröderbauer and Peter Daxberger first went to Styria to the Nature Park Marathon in Pöllau, where Evelin won the women's classification and Peter finished 4th. Various races in Upper Austria followed, where the two were always on the podium and could celebrate 6 victories. Particularly noteworthy are the victories of Evelin at the 6-hour race in Grünbach and the 2-hour race in Maria Schmolln. Peter crowned himself, among other things, as Masters State Champion in Cross Country and also won his age group at the prestigious Granitbeisser in St. Georgen am Walde with an excellent 6th place overall. They were also the fastest pair in a pair time trial on the road in Zwettl (Lower Austria) and thus naturally won the mixed classification.

The winning streak does not stop

Sabine and Alexander took part in 3 UCI marathons in Italy and Austria this year and managed excellent placements in these marathons of the highest category. Sabine finished 3rd in the M3 in Montafon, 4th in the Tiliment Marathon (ITA) and 6th in the Sellaronda Hero (ITA). With this, she managed to qualify for the 2018 World Championships again. Alexander was able to fight for 3rd place in his age group twice and finished 5th in his age group at the Sellaronda Hero. Sabine was able to win 10 other races in addition to the 211 km course at the Salzkammerguttrophy. Alexander finished 21st overall in the 211 km course of the Trophy and was still 5 times at the top of the podium in his age group and was in the top 10 overall in almost all national marathons.

Young talent also presents itself in top form

The team's two up-and-coming bikers, Clara and Nicole Sommer, also once again put on a show of talent. They rode more races this year in the Austria Youngsters Cup, the Austria-wide cross country race series, and established themselves in the top this year. Clara was able to achieve 10 podium finishes (5 victories) and was crowned vice state champion in the U15 girls' cross country. At the European Youth Championships she reached the excellent 22nd place out of 65 participants from 21 nations. Her sister Nicole became Upper Austrian National Champion in her first year in U13 and also achieved 5 victories and 5 other podium places. Both Clara and Nicole were able to win the Upper Austria Cup again this year, as they did last year.

Media appearances

Due to the many successes this year, the team was also very present in the media. In addition to many mentions on online portals and reports in local newspapers, Sabine also put the team jersey in the right light at two press conferences (Granitmarathon and Salzkammerguttrophy). Also in television reports (OÖ Heute, LT1 and Mühlviertel TV) on the occasion of the major Upper Austrian marathons, the team jersey was often in the picture.
