7-10 morning measurements are necessary for the initial calibration. Unlike other systems, we work with your own vital signs and not statistical averages. Your values ​​are already displayed during these 7-10 measurements, but these can become even more meaningful with further morning measurements. From these 7-10 measurements, the system derives an individual baseline and is thus adapted to your body .

Any number of measurements are possible, even without an internet connection. Your measurement data will be cached on your device and automatically transferred to the server the next time you connect to the Internet and your results will be calculated. Important: Do not log out of the Vitalmonitor app while there are still unsaved measurements. When you log out, all unsaved measurements will be deleted!

With just one RR interval, conventional heart rate belts already have a fluctuation range of around 20 milliseconds. Added to the entire recorded ECG, this results in considerable measurement inaccuracy when using pulse belts.

Based on this insight, we developed our own sensor so that we can provide our users with the most accurate measurements and evaluations. The Vitalmonitor Nano samples at a frequency of 300 Hz. In addition, our software detects occasional extrasystoles and does not include them in the calculation.

We have found that there are people for whom waking up with or without an alarm clock causes a brief moment of stress , or that the body needs a certain amount of time to get going. This affects many of our users. For these affected users, the results of the morning measurement 15 minutes after waking up were sometimes much more stable than immediately after waking up.

First of all, you should have taken morning measurements on at least 7-10 days so that the system is reasonably calibrated. Of course, you can also carry out status measurements. You can then carry out a very simple self-test. Measure 3 days in a row 1x immediately after waking up and again about 15 minutes later. In the 15 minutes between the first measurement and the new measurement you can carry out your morning errands. Shower, go to the toilet, brush your teeth, make breakfast (don't eat it yet!), get dressed. Please only carry out activities that do not cause your heart rate to rise significantly (running to the bakery is not recommended).

Then sit on an armchair or on your bed (with a backrest) and take the second measurement. Please make sure that you stay in the measuring position for at least 1 minute before starting the measurement. If the two results are relatively the same , then the time of measurement doesn't really matter to you. If the two measurement results differ significantly from each other, you are one of those users for whom the measurement time is not important. If possible, we recommend that you choose the measurement time 15 minutes after waking up (e.g. shortly before breakfast). Please carry out the test on at least 3 consecutive days to determine significance.

The vital monitor is not a 24-hour ECG. There is a very simple reason for this: a 24-hour ECG only measures one day of your life. You can be stressed or relaxed on this day, maybe you're a little sick or just in great shape. In any case, one day of your life says little about your long-term vital status.

In order for your coach to have access to your values, he or she must be a Vitalmonitor user himself. Android : In order for the VM NANO to work, location detection for the Vitalmonitor app must be turned on in Android. You cannot compare the heart rate variabilities from the measurement and the biofeedback exercise. Only the HRV of the resting phase is used for the measurements. In the biofeedback exercise there is only the breathing phase in which the HRV is automatically much higher (since the heartbeat adapts to breathing).
So you should only compare measurements and only compare biofeedback exercises with each other.

The biofeedback exercise is an exercise and not a measurement. It is used to train the parasympathetic nervous system (the part of your autonomic nervous system that is responsible for recovery and calm) in order to be able to process stressful situations better. The “resting pulse” parameter is used to assess the results from heart rate variability. “Heart rate variability” should increase with regular applications of the biofeedback exercise.

The quick check is a snapshot of heart rate variability. At the moment of a measurement, the person taking the measurement can have the HRV values ​​of a 50-year-old. 3 hours later he could have the HRV values ​​of a 25 year old. This can have very different reasons. For example:

• During one of the measurements, the person taking the measurement may not have had stable measurement conditions: coughing, swallowing, moving, etc.
• He may have eaten something in the last 1-2 hours before the first measurement
• He could have played sports
• He could have been upset about something during the first measurement
• He may have recovered in the meantime

That's why the quick check is not as accurate as the normal measurement. For the quick check, the vital monitor has no way of adapting to the body of the person taking the measurement. To ensure that quick checks are still as meaningful as possible, it is important to take measurements while sitting and resting. It is best for the person taking the measurement to sit down for a minute, come down and then start measuring!
